Summer Wedding Dresses

Edgewater Hotel SeattleThe Edgewater Hotel, Seattle

Alright, lovelies, I am in need of your help. One of my oldest and dearest friends is getting married in three weeks and I have somehow neglected to get a dress for the wedding yet. I was distracted shopping for other things, I suppose, but also, I have been having a hard time finding a dress I love. I swear, this always happens. When you’re on a mission to find something, you won’t be able to find it anywhere. When you’re not looking, there it is, calling your name.

So, I’ve been doing some browsing and have found some cute options, but can’t make up my mind—so, this is where you come in. Take a look at some of these dresses that have caught my eye and let me know in the comments which one(s) are your favorite and what you think. I love the idea of a bright, colorful dress, but I also love the idea of a totally glam and sophisticated look. Without further ado, the choices…

I love the way green looks against my skin when I’m tanned and sun-kissed, so maybe a jewel or pastel shade of green? I will be at the family lake house for the week prior to the wedding, so hopefully I will be coming home bronzed and glowing. I’m worried the one on the left is too bridemaid-y and the one in the middle is maybe too long? Not sure if tea-length will be flattering, but it is romantic! The one on the right…too plain?

My favorite summer shades are the bright, punchy oranges, pinks and corals. I could go more glamorous with the pink, but is it too Real Housewives of Orange County? The orange is adorable, but I fear it may be too casual.

Perhaps a dress in blue? The one on the left is actually one of the front-runners for me – I feel like its sophisticated, feminine and still sexy. The one in the middle is a gorgeous color—Tiffany blue!—but I do wonder if its too plain. Its a beautifully made dress, but it reminds me a little bit of something I’d wear to the office. Finally, maybe something in a fun print like the one on the right?

Blue wedding dresses

Diane Von Furstenberg, Cynthia Steffe, McGinn

Lastly, the neutral palette. The pink and cream is super fun and playful. The sequins are glamorous and sexy—its hard for me to resist sequins. The one on the right, is my other favorite but it may be a little out of my price range. Its just so sophisticated—Breakfast at Tiffany’s with a fashion forward twist. Then again, a feathered skirt feels much more fall-ish than summer.

Okay, lay it on me, lovelies. Which ones are your favorite? Leave a comment below and let me know which one(s) you think would be good for the wedding.

Three Cheers For: Studiopatro

Hello, lovelies. Meet my latest obsession. Studiopatro. I love love love their home goods – I love that they are taking an ordinary, every day item and making it not just useful, but also beautiful and well designed. Their hand-printed towels, aprons and tote bags are sustainable and, correct me if I am wrong, would make kick-ass gifts. I actually stumbled on Studiopatro by accident when I popped into the lovely Fluert shop in West Seattle a few weeks ago. I fell head over heels for a dishtowel – sounds strange, I know – it said DEVOUR at the top and underneath it read: old films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. The sentiment grabbed me and charmed me, and I took the dishtowel home, framed it and hung it on my wall as a “print” and piece of artwork. It makes me happy every time I look at it. And then I met the rest of the line…

Each of these towels would make a fabulous bridal shower gift, house warming gift, birthday gift, take your pick. I adore the sentiments on each one – the striped towel that says at one end, All You Need Is Love, and on the other end, Love Is All You Need. The towel that has the beautifully designed heart-shaped leaves that list what each anniversary is – wood, paper, diamonds, etc. And if you wrapped other coordinating gifts up in the towel? Its almost too precious.

The pink and orange set has to be my favorite after the Devour one that I own. The bright punchy colors are perfect for a kitchen and they’re basically, just insane eye candy if you ask me. Piece of Cake and Easy as Pie. Stop. With. The. Cuteness. I am going to die.

Who would have ever thought I would be swooning over dishtowels like this?

Which one is your favorite?

Road Trip!

road tripMackenzie Horan

TGIF, lovelies! I am so insanely excited for this weekend. It has been a crazy busy past few months at work, and just today I put the finishing touches on the last big project for a little while. You know what that means – vacay!!! Bright and early Saturday morning the BF and I are taking off on a little road trip. We’re headed to Eastern Washington to spend a few days at Lake Chelan. I’m packing my Kate Spade aviators, suntan lotion, my J.Crew bikini, flip flops, a few sundresses and a couple good books – oh, and a dozen or so fashion magazines I need to catch up on – and we’re going to relax and enjoy  some time off. There will be plenty of cocktails, boating, swimming, sunning and sleeping in, you can bet on that. I hope you have an equally lovely weekend planned. I will be back next week, but until then, I will leave you with this fun little find – my favorite from this week – from Louis Vuitton. The new packing feature on their site is absolutely charming. Choose the bag you have and it shows you how to pack it. Tips I am going to need this weekend, for sure!

Ciao!

Preston and Olivia

I recently stumbled on Preston and Olivia, an incredible hat designer and, let me tell you, I am one smitten kitten. I’ve always wanted to buy one of those big, floppy glamorous hats for my summer vacations, but something always stopped me. That something was how in the world I was going to pack it into my suitcase without destroying it – and no, wearing it on the plane is simply not an option for this girl. If you have any tips, let me know. Until I figure out how to pack one of these fabulous hats into my luggage, I’ve decided it will simply have to do to wear it on Sunday afternoons at the farmer’s market, lounging in a park reading a novel on the weekend, and of course, to work.

The designer, Dara, does these hat collections in addition to her bridal collections, which have been all over the wedding blogs since Princess Kate came on the scene (she makes beautiful fascinators, as well as the hats). Using details like leather, fur and lace, she handcrafts each hat with the practices of a couture milliner. I love the idea of having a couture hat like this – so glamorous, so Southern belle.

Surfer Girl Style

Surfer Girl Style

It might be because its finally summer and the sun is shining, but all I want to do lately is run away and live on the beach. See palm trees every day and dip my toes in the ocean before I’ve even had my morning coffee. Or it just might be that I’ve always had a secret dream of being a surfer girl. The awesome highlights and messy, sexy hair. The casual comfy clothes and the constant sunshine and sand between your toes. And let’s not forget the body. Surfer chicks always have the most amazing bodies – flat tummies, toned arms, and always, that sun-kissed glow. Plus, its just so cool…and surfer guys are hot.

I love my heels and and sparkly jewelry as much as the next fashionista, but there has always been something about the allure of wearing flip-flops and denim cutoffs year-round that I just can’t resist. Besides – Chanel makes surfboards and I can have a Missoni towel. That balances out the year-round flip-flops, right? Check out some of the other stylish surfer girl essentials…

Fourth of July Fashion

Fourth of July, Red White and BlueVia Chance

As I am writing this post, I am also painting my nails a bright candy apple red color and planning what to wear on Wednesday—for the Fourth of July! I’m excited for the 4th this year because I will get to spend it with my sister, her husband and my adorable niece and nephew, watching fireworks and making yummy cocktails. Its also fun to experience the holidays through the eyes of a child again. I’m also super excited that the BF will be there to snuggle with while the fireworks go off. So, with all the excitement, I am already in planning mode – food, drinks, and of course, the outfit. I am definitely not above wearing red, white and blue from head to toe. Why not? It doesn’t have to look tacky or over-the-top. Check out how chic it can be…

Long Island Prep, Late Afternoon, Wendy’s Lookbook, Perpreption, Brooklyn Blonde, Atlantic Pacific

These stylish (and patriotic!) options are making me think I don’t need to limit the red, white and blue combination to just one day a year – or to a yachting party. Red and white jeans are a great way to go, and a simply striped top gives it a preppy, nautical-vibe. Definitely all-American.

These are some great items to bring out your patriotic spirit on Wednesday – my personal favorites are the bright red Superga sneakers (SO getting a pair), the adorable bikini by Lisa Marie Fernandez and the Julep nail polish in “American the Beautiful” – I have already checked into the salon near me twice to see if its in yet – that’s how badly I want to paint my nails with that color. The red I just put on is only a back-up!

How are you spending the 4th of July this year?
