I am starting a new job this week, so work-wear is on my mind. After being a freelancer for so many years, there isn’t much in the way of “business casual” in my closet anymore. There is, however, a lot of Lululemon – when you work from home, there is nothing better – trust me. In any case, with spring and summer on the way and a new work appropriate wardrobe to prepare, my mind went straight to the shorts suit. It is a big trend for this spring, and I find it absolutely charming. Its chic and conservative enough for most offices, but its still stylish, cute and playful – and it will transition easily from work – just take off the blazer! Its the most feminine way to do menswear that I can think of.
Pair the blazer and shorts together for a very classic, pulled-together look or mix and match the shorts and blazers for a more casual and fun touch. If you are going to wear this trend to work this spring and summer, a word of advice: make sure your shorts are long enough. No short shorts in the office please! I love that this look is so sexy and sophisticated at the same time. For me personally, I am thinking more about the mismatched shorts suit look – although I would love to have one that is all crisp white, black or navy (or all three would be good too) for a more polished look, as well.
Here are some of my favorite blazers and shorts of the season – I’m loving the idea of a bright colorful blazer with black shorts too. This turquoise tuxedo-style one is pretty amazing.
Would you wear a shorts suit to work? Or anywhere else this spring and summer?
