Three Cheers For: Emily Post’s “Etiquette” 18th Edition

Emily Post is the go-to authority on proper etiquette and manners, and has been since 1922 when her book was first published. Since then, its been updated over the years, the last time being seven years ago…until now! The 18th edition of the book was just released, and tackles more modern issues having to do with texting and tweeting – even online dating – in addition to the classic advice.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new edition and see what the Post family has to say about being proper and polite in the new world of social media. As someone that still loves to send and receive real handwritten thank you notes, set the dinner table properly, and always make a good impression when meeting new friends and contacts,  I believe in the old fashioned values of etiquette, manners and politeness. They can truly go a long way in life.

Luckily for me, and all of you readers in the Seattle area, Anna Post (great-granddaughter-in-law of Emily) is going to be coming town next week for a book party at Watson Kennedy, hosted by Gilt City. There will be tasty bites to nibble on, a brief presentation by Anna, and of course, shopping. Watson Kennedy has oodles of wonderful treasures – including candles by Diptyque and MarieBelle chocolates, that will be 15% on the night of the event.

I plan on being there to soak up the refinement and do a little shopping – book your ticket now and join me! If you aren’t in the Seattle area, you will be missed, but pick up the book and let me know what you think!

xoxo
